The Local education lovers of Suriya village had decided to establish Sariya College (सरिया महाविद्यालय) in 1984 to provide higher education among the students of this area has a story to tell……..a success story. For this Ranchi University accorded affiliation to impart education at graduation level. Ranchi University and the State Govt. provided temporary affiliation of degree standard in Arts faculty from the session 1984-85. It was the only degree college in Bogodar Legislative Constituency under Giridih district with co-educational facility and full-filling the need of higher education to the local economically deprived OBC, S.C. and S.T. students. Then from the session 2011-12 Jharkhand Govt. and Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag graciously provided permanent affiliation to the college in the faculty of Commerce Honours & General level and Arts General level and from session 2014-15 college got permanent affiliation in Arts Honours level. In the life span of an educational institution, thirty four years may be just a tiny ray in the vast spectrum, but for Sariya College, the last one decade have been truly constructive, in infrastructure and academic. The land of the college has been donated to His Excellency Governor of Jharkhand by Sri Mahabir Pd. Jain and Sri Janki Lal Daga. Sariya College is registered under society Act 1860 and also it is registered under section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC of Govt.of India.

The mission of Sariya College is to educate the citizens and citizens-leaders for our society. We do this through our commitment to the transformative power of higher education in Arts and Commerce. Beginning in the classrooms with exposure to new ideas, new ways of understanding and new ways of knowing, students embark on a journey of intellectual transformation.

The vision of Sariya College is to make quality the defining element of education of the students and set the standards for higher education in the Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag in the twenty-first century. We are committed to creating and sustaining the conditions that enable all college students to experience an unparalleled education journey that is intellectually, socially and personally transformative.
