Singhbhum College, Chandi was established in the year 1973 with humble co-operation of Education loving persons like Sri D.N.Verma , Ex B.D.O. Chandil, Late Bhagwat Daripa, Late Gajonand Dawn, Late K.C.Roy, Late Satrughna Aditya Dev (Raja Saheb Patkum), Late M.L.Jaiswal, Late Shambhu Munka, Late D.P.Rungta, Sri Dhananjoy Mahto (Ex MLC), Sri Ghanshyam Mahto (Ex-Forest Minister, Govt. of Bihar), Late Sita Ram Sultania, Late Ghanshyam Mahto (Ex. MLA, Ichagarh Vidhan Sabha – Constituency cum secretary of College Governing Body), Sri Subodh Gopal Benarjee, Sri Suresh Khaitan, Sri Bhola Nath Sahu, Sri Nepal Chandra Mandal, Sri Hare Krishna Dawn, Sri Manik Ratan Chakravarty, Sri Gopal Chandra Daripa, Sri Bidyadhar Bagaria, Sri Shiv Ram Mahto (Ex. Pramukh), Sri Ashutosh Dawn, Sri A.K. Mandal, Vijay Kumar Singh and others.

Besides these persons, the people of the nearest Villages have also played an important role by donating money and material to this institution. The than Deputy commissioner of Singhbhum district laid down the foundation stone of the College Building in the year 1973. The college family is very much obliged to the above mentioned personalities for their self dedication and sacrifice for the establishment of the college. The college was converted into a constituent unit of Ranchi University on 24th November 1980.

The College is situated at the entrance of Chandil Bazar besides N.H. 32,(towards Jamshedpur to Purulia) in newly framed Chandil subdivision in seraikella Kharswan district. This is the single constituent college of Ranchi University in Ichagarh Vidhan Sabha consitituency. This college is imparting Co-education upto 3 years degree (Hn.) course since the year 1978. This institution has been a significant centre of Higher Education and intellectual development for the people of Ichagarh Vidhan Sabha Constituency and the adjoining area.
