Xavier Institute for Tribal Education (XITE) is a timely initiative of XLRI with unflinching support of the Jamshedpur Jesuit Society. XITE was founded by Rev. Fr. P. D. Thomas, SJ (former director of XLRI) in 2003. The main objective of the Institute is to groom the youth of Jharkhand both in knowledge and skill, and make them capable of understanding their responsibility towards our nation. Initially, it was started as a coaching centre for the youth to help them to get into reputed MBA schools and to qualify various competitive exams, but in 2007 regular academic courses such as BBA started. Subsequently, in the 2012 BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) and B Com (Bachelor of Commerce Honors) were started. Thus, currently the college offers three bachelor degree courses which are affiliated to the Kolhan University.
XITE has 34.5 acre of campus which is going to be the hub of academic and professional learning from Kindergarten to Post Graduation (KG to PG).The campus has the College, Xavier School, XLRI-EDC, and Xavier Training Center as educational institutions and separate hostels for the college boys & girls and for XLRI-EDC participants. The campus also has a canteen for all the students. XITE conducts rural development program as well as other coaching programs such as CAT, CMAT, Banking and Railway Entrance Test, Tally, etc. Therefore, the whole campus is becoming a gamut of educational activities.
Tata Steel, Congregation of Terasian Carmelite (CTC) Sisters, the citizens of Jamshedpur and the Government of Jharkhand are the partners in envisioning and translating the vision and mission of XITE into a reality. Currently, the college imparts quality and meaningful education to all deserving undergraduate students hailing from the states of Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and West Bengal.
