The Role of Education Institutions in Inculcating Values

In ancient societies religion had a dominant role in influencing every aspect of human life. As a result, the content of education was more or less religious in nature. Besides mental training, moral training was emphasized to a great extent. Learners had to undergo rigorous character training and value education during their stay in GuruKul. Thus the entire educational system was primarily value oriented. But as the days passed by, there was a gradual erosion of value and the so called modern education appeared.

The process of inculcating values must start right from the level of primary education because education not only brings change in the field of knowledge & developments but it also helps in inculcating moral values.
