Uttar Pradesh’s brave maternity in India has been the carrier of literature, culture, art, religion, spirituality and bravery since the beginning of Bundelkhand. In this Bundeli land, Lalitpur district which is covered with natural beauty situated at the treaty of present Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, has captured the glorious golden past full of immortal stories of bravery, sacrifice, sculpture and spirituality in its zenith.

Along with other development after independence, acute need was felt for the physical progress of higher education in Lalitpur district, due to which serious thinking started by social workers and intellectuals to establish a higher education institution in the city. The untiring efforts of many social activists and intellectuals of the district, under the guidance of former manager Dr. Shadilal Dubey, Mr. Pandit Harihar Narayan Chaubey, Mr. Gopikrishna Arora, started from March 1961. In 1968, the first institute of higher education was established in the shape of Nehru Mahavidyalaya.

In the last 5 decades of uninterrupted travel, this college has set many steps of progress. Initially run in five classes with under graduate courses in the Faculty of Arts, the college is currently supported by arts, agriculture, science and commerce practitioners in the spacious and well-equipped physical blocks of 55 rooms to about 3500 students through well qualified and talented teachers. Not only Bundelkhand, but also is helpful in providing quality education to students of different regions of the country. At present, this college has a B.A. 3-year courses in 10 subjects, M.A. in 7 subjects, M.Sc. (Agriculture chemistry and soil science), B.Sc. Agriculture for a four-year semester system, B. Sc. (Math and Biology) and B. Com. for 3 years courses. Along with these, PhD facility is available in five subjects (Sanskrit, Psychology, Economics, Hindi and History). Apart from this, due to unavoidable reasons, year - long courses, open university courses for the underprivileged are not available as a learning center courses run by Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tondon open university, Allahabad respectively is available.

Bundelkhand universitys best disciplined and reputed excellent academic center, thus college is also famous as a copy- less examination center throughout Bundelkhand. This college, which is only grant to the district by Uttar Pradesh, is also committed to get it recognized in the 2F and 12B category from university Grants commission UGC, New Delhi and accredited by the national Assessment council (NAAC) in the same year. Under the able direction of the current progressive minister/manger Mr.Pradeep Chaubey and Principal Dr. Avdesh Kumar Agrawal, thus college is constantly on the path of a progress with the cooperation of the college administration (managing committee, professors, non- teaching colleagues . The spacious and well -quipped building blocks of 55 rooms of the college, covered in a vast courtyard of about 45 acres of land, hostels for students and large gymnasium and a large playground for students equipped with all modern machines. It is also furnishing and pulverizing the central library with approx 42563 books in its zone.
