Welcome to Raghuveer Singh Government Degree College Lalitpur

The Raghuveer Singh Government Degree College, Lalitpur was established in 1981 by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh as one of the pioneer institute of higher education with a vision to provide low cost quality education of Science and Commerce at their doorsteps to the students of this backward District, primarily residing in rural areas covering all category especially weaker sections of the society. This rural area of Uttar Pradesh was devoid of such higher education and at present is the only government college of Science & Commerce in this District which is fulfilling the need of higher education at minimal economic cost through optimal utilization of available resources. The college is well known decipline and transparent examination system. The college has co-education system and the motto of this institution has been, besides education, to inculcate values among the students and live up the expectations of good citizenship.

The college is affiliated to Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (UP). Because of the only government college of Science and Commerce in Lalitpur district, affectionate relation between students and teachers and tradition of quality education, it attracts students for higher education in friendly environment. Presently, there are two faculties of Science and Commerce with students, teaching staff and administrative/technical/supporting staff. There is faculty of Science with five departments - Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology, and faculty of Commerce with UG&PG programmes. The college is affiliated for B.Sc. Degree (Graduate Course) in Bio group-Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Mathematics group, Mathematics group-Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and B.Com. The M.Sc. (Post Graduate Course) in Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology and M.Com courses started from 2013 academic session. The College also recognized under 2f & 12B of UGC Act.

Admission to UG courses is given on online merit basis strictly in accordance with reservation policies of the state government generated by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. The admission in PG courses through Entrance Examination conducted by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. The students primarily belong to rural areas. The college has highly qualified teaching staff selected through UPPSC, Allahabad who teach the students in interactive manner and employ classroom teaching as a principal method of teaching and also use other methods like seminars, projects, charts and use of projectors to improve the quality.

The college has a total land area of 14.36 acres out of which the built-up area is 8899.11 sq. meters. There are nine lecture rooms, four well-equipped laboratories, examination room, games room, NSS room playground, badminton court etc. There is a central library having a collection of 17,457 books and journals. Located in a rural area and catering to the needs of students belonging to different sections of society for more than twenty nine years, the college has earned an esteemed reputation and is making notable contribution in the development of people and society.
